July 10, 2015

Canadian-based Packers Plus Energy Services has purchased a site in the Tomball Business and Technology Park to consolidate its Houston operations to a single campus.

Colliers International, which represented the Tomball Economic Development Corp. in the deal, announced the sale of a 17.4-acre tract at the southwest corner of Hufsmith-Kohrville and Spell Roads in Tomball.

The $21 million project is the first to be announced in the 120-acre Tomball Business and Technology Park. The campus will be constructed in phases and consist of a 50,000-square-foot research and development center, a 237,000-square-foot manufacturing building and a multi-story 40,000-square-foot corporate office building.

The company’s U.S. operations are currently headquartered at 5825 N. Sam Houston Parkway West. It has two other facilities in Houston.

The Tomball facility is expected to create 353 new full-time jobs within the city of Tomball, with 172 of the jobs being created in the first five years of operation.

The park’s location near the new Tomball Tollway helped attract Packers Plus Energy Services to the area, according to Kelly Violette, executive director of the Tomball Economic Development Corp.

Tom Condon Jr. of Colliers International represented the Tomball Economic Development Corp. Brandi McDonald with Newmark Grubb Knight Frank represented the buyer. Jane Matthews with Stewart Title Tomball coordinated the closing.
