Senior Design Engineer – ICD/Well Screens

Primary Role Focus:
Conceptualize, design, analyze, verify, validate (test), and accurately document the development of sand control completion tools that provide solutions to complex downhole applications. Provide support in the Engineering related maintenance of Packers Plus’ products.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Complete medium to large design projects with minimum supervision or support
  • Mentor Junior or Intermediate Technologists, Engineers or Designers
  • Complete all tasks (models, drawings, calculations, testing, technical documentation) required to drive projects from concept to production
  • Provide recommendations on design and processes, based on sound engineering principles, to continually improve efficiencies in new product design
  • Research industry advances in technology, materials, and standards to ensure innovation in new product design
  • Provide engineering guidance and recommendations to various departments on manufacturing, assembly, testing, and operational standards of new and existing tool designs
  • Revise and maintain drawings and models as necessary to ensure they continue to meet Packers Plus standards
  • Review technical documents for accuracy and completeness
  • Support other Designers as required to aid in product development
  • Ensure compliance with Packers Plus Health and Safety Program

Experience and Skills:

  • Knowledge of current technology and operating principles for both autonomous and passive Inflow Control Devices (ICD)
  • Extensive product knowledge, preferably design experience, with all types of well screens
  • Strong background in fluid mechanics
  • Ability to interface with reservoir experts to develop product specifications and design targets
  • Highly innovative individual with hands on capability in designing, fabricating, and operating testing equipment for product development and qualification
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in developing ICD assembles and systems
  • 8 years or more of industry experience

Education and Training:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum or other related field)

  • Ability to safely conduct high pressure and elevated temperature lab tests with limited supervision
  • Ability to use data acquisition systems and generate thorough reports and technical documentation

Physical and Safety Requirements

  • Lifting/carrying up to 40lbs
  • Position is Safety Sensitive and subject to a pre-employment medical assessment and drug & alcohol testing
  • Subject to post-incident and reasonable-cause drug & alcohol testing
