Raw Materials & Purchasing Coordinator

Primary Role Focus

Raw Materials - Assist the Purchasing Supervisor with projects, planning and forecasting.

Purchasing - Responsible for sourcing components required for planned and project demands in a timely manner to ensure schedules are met.

This role reports to the Purchasing Supervisor.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Raw Materials (75%}

  • Prepare drawing packages for sourcing materials and work with purchasing for job quotations and possible orders
  • Ensure Raw Material inventory levels are consistent with project completions and MRP
  • Assist with forecasting and maintenance of Raw Material inventory
  • Production planning of raw materials
  • Source materials for forecasts and project developments
  • Maintain Raw Material inventory counts in Navision
  • Assist with Raw Material count and reconciliation
  • Assist suppliers in maintaining inventory levels and mill orders; updating Vendor Portal as required
  • Review Engineering Change Notices (ECN) and Engineering Request Forms (ERF) for raw material impact
  • Prepare manufacturing design review drawing packages and spreadsheet for Purchasing Supervisor to review

Purchasing (25%}

  • Set priorities, schedule and initiate requests for quotations and issue Purchase Orders
  • Update ERP system with required information (item cards, vendor information, pricing ... etc.)
  • Monitor, expedite and troubleshoot orders through to completion and update ERP system as required
  • Maintain accurate flow of information and updates to all stakeholders
  • Work with Accounts Payable department to ensure all vendor invoices are processed accurately and timely
  • Develop an understanding of supplier base and their capabilities

  • Ensure compliance with Packers Plus Health and Safety program

Position Requirements

Experience and Skills

  • 5 - 10 years of experience in purchasing or supply chain related to manufacturing
  • Experience in an oilfield manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Experience in Raw Materials procurement or sales is an asset
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Proficient with Navision or other ERP systems
  • Purchasing experience within a manufacturing or warehouse environment
  • Experience in or working knowledge of Purchasing departments
  • Data orientated with the ability to draw conclusions
  • Proficient reading and understanding of engineering drawings

Education and Training

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate is preferred (e.g. commerce degree, SCMP, Inventory and Production management certificate)

Physical and Safety Requirements

  • Extended periods of sitting at a desk and use of a computer, keyboard and mouse
  • This role is not Safety Sensitive, but is Subject to post-incident and reasonable-cause drug & alcohol testing
