Open Hole Multi-stage Completions
The Packers Plus StackFRAC® HD-X multi-stage completion system provides high intensity stimulation in unconventional tight oil and gas formations. An advanced seat and port activation design along with a proprietary anti-erosion coating enables smaller ball and seat increments to be used for increased stage counts. Once the stimulation operation is complete, the well can be immediately flowed back and put on production. StackFRAC HD-X systems provide operators with an efficient and cost-effective method to complete their wells.
The StackFRAC HD-X system is modular with regard to tool placement and can be combined with other Packers Plus tools and systems, enabling customized stimulation programs.
Reduces costs with continuous rigless pumping operations and immediate post-stimulation flowback
Stimulate more of the wellbore with improved isolation using field-proven mechanical RockSEAL® H2 packers
Reduced cost using degradable balls that do not require millout
Increase reservoir contact with higher stage counts from smaller ball and seat increments

The StackFRAC HD-X system is installed with a rig by spacing out tools on production liner. When the desired total depth is reached, the wellbore can be circulated over to completion fluid.
A ball is pumped from surface to the toe of the system to close off flow with the annulus allowing hydraulic pressure to build inside the system.
This pressure sets the system by hydraulically activating the packer and anchor tools. This anchors the system in the casing and open hole, and creates individually isolated stages along the wellbore.
Once the system has been set, the running string is removed and the fracture string is installed. The rig is removed and stimulation equipment is brought on location.
Stimulation of the first stage is initiated at the toe of the wellbore using a Hydraulic FracPORT sleeve, which is opened by further increasing hydraulic pressure.
Fluid pressure is further increased causing a fracture to form in the rock. Proppant is then pumped as a slurry behind the fluid to fill the fracture.
A pad of fluid is pumped to flush the system of proppant above the stimulated stage. The amount of fluid is precisely calculated to prevent overdisplacement of the proppant, ensuring connectivity to the wellbore.
Stimulation of the second stage is initiated by pumping a slightly larger ball right after the pad of fluid. This ball lands in a FracPORT H2 sleeve and hydraulic pressure is increased causing the sleeve to open.
This process is repeated in a single, continuous pumping operation. The well can be immediately flowed back and production brought on line. If desired, the system can be milled out.
Packers Plus successful stimulation services begin with a fully integrated quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) process that begins at the design stage and follows each tool through manufacturing, assembly, testing, shipping and installation. Automation and robotics are incorporated into our proven process to ensure consistency and repeatability of key criteria in each step as we design, develop and manufacture our patented tools and systems. As a commitment to quality and meeting stringent standards, Packers Plus has achieved ISO 9001 certification and API Q1 Certification for our manufacturing and engineering operations in Edmonton, AB, and ISO 9001 in Houston, TX.
